Santa Barbara is a well-known city in California, located among the mountains. It was the final stop of our road trip on Highway 1, where we stayed at the Cheshire Cat Inn, a B&B.
We began our journey in San Francisco and visited Sausalito, San Luis Obispo, Carmel, and lastly Santa Barbara. Santa Barbara offers various attractions, including the renowned Stearns Wharf with picturesque views of the beach and mountains, as well as a selection of dining and shopping options. The Santa Barbara Courthouse tower and other attractions like the Natural History Museum and Botanical Garden are also noteworthy.

We lodged at the Cheshire Cat Inn, a top-rated bed and breakfast known for its excellent services, great location, and affordability.
The Cheshire Cat, also known as Gato Risonho, is a character from the popular movie “Alice in Wonderland”. The lodging is themed around the movie, with each room named after a character. The cozy accommodation consists of two chalet-style cottages situated in beautifully landscaped gardens, creating a tranquil and inviting atmosphere. Guests can enjoy a delightful outdoor breakfast.
Cheshire Cat Inn provides complimentary Wi-Fi and parking. The majority of rooms are situated on the second floor, and there is no elevator in the hotel. Guests are advised to be mindful of this if they have mobility issues or multiple bags. Additionally, the rooms can be quite bright in the morning, so it may be helpful to bring a sleep mask if you prefer not to wake up with the sunlight.

The Cheshire Cat Inn does not have a reception area. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the hotel manager who provided us with an access password. It is important to remember this password as it allows entry to the hotel at any time. If arriving after 7 pm, it is advisable to notify the hotel in advance so they can make necessary arrangements.
Accommodations
The boutique hotel has 18 rooms decorated in a classic style, inspired by the theme of the movie “Alice in Wonderland”. Each room is named after a character from the film, such as The Mad Hatter, The Mock Turtle, and The Duchess. Our stay was in the room named Cheshire Cat.
The ambiance is warm and inviting, furnished with numerous cushions and armchairs, complemented by a lovely flower vase selected from the hotel garden. Each room is equipped with air conditioning, a bathrobe, a flat-screen TV, and Molton Brown amenities. Certain rooms are more spacious and offer a hot tub, balcony, and fireplace, creating a very romantic atmosphere.

Morning meal
Breakfast was the highlight of the stay, served in the outdoor area overlooking the garden and mountains. The continental-style coffee included a variety of items such as cold cuts, bread, milk, fruits, eggs, yogurt with honey, homemade granola, juices, Nutella, and daily quiches with different flavors, all freshly prepared and served punctually.
In the afternoon, between 5:00 and 6:00 PM, the hotel provides a happy hour with local wines, snacks, cheeses, and jams.
