The journey starts in Hervey Bay and involves taking a ferry to Fraser Island. Upon arrival, visitors must use 4×4 jeeps to navigate the island, as these vehicles can easily traverse the sandy terrain and are the main mode of transportation there. The initial destination is Lake Mackenzie.
The most stunning sight I have ever witnessed, a heavenly place. It’s incredible to think that such a large and flawless lake is created solely from rainwater. The lake’s sand is made of pure silica, so I made sure to exfoliate my skin while I was there!
In the afternoon, it is recommended to visit Lake Wabby, accessed via a 30-minute walking trail. This lake is encircled by dunes, offering a distinctive view of the area. Visitors can unwind by the shore and allow the fish to provide a natural foot spa treatment.
We encounter a sudden downpour while circling the lake along the trail, adding to the excitement of our ride.
After spending the night at the campsite, the next day starts early for a visit to Eli Creek, a renowned river known for its hangover-curing properties. This reputation is well-deserved, as the river’s icy waters offer a refreshing experience. Floating down the river is a delightful and effortless journey, thanks to the gentle current that carries visitors along the route. If you have inflatables, now is the perfect opportunity to make use of them.
After the tour, the plan is to visit the champagne pools, which are pools created by rocks along the beach. They earned their name because they fill with foam when waves crash against the rocks, resembling a natural jacuzzi. “Quite a sight!”
